Lymington has Georgian and Victorian town houses up the High Street and old cottages down by the Quay, 1960s to 1980s estates and semis through Pennington, Buckland and Woodside, plenty of bungalows in Milford on Sea, Everton and Hordle, and bigger plots with long boundaries out towards Boldre and Sway.

A lot of the ground round Lymington and Pennington is gravel sitting on clay, so the top digs easily but the bottom of the hole holds water, and timber posts sit in wet clay all winter.
