Concrete Spur Repair in Poole

Poole is right next to Bournemouth, and we cover it as part of our run along the Dorset coast. A concrete repair spur is a short, heavy-duty concrete post that we concrete into the ground right next to a timber post that has rotted or snapped at ground level.

Very fast efficient communication and service. Replaced two rotten timber fence posts with new concrete ones to stop a fence from falling down. Texted to say they were on their way, arrived on time, cleared up afterwards and the cost was very reasonable. I will use them again and recommend them to others.

We have had a full 12 metre fence, posts and a new custom fit gate replaced by SC Maintenance. William's speed of communication was great, keeping me informed each step of the way. The work was scheduled within a two week period from the initial enquiry. A huge shout out to Dustin, who completed the work ahead of expectation. He was polite, tidy, efficient and carried out the job to a superb quality. We are thrilled with the job and would thoroughly recommend the team. Will definitely use them again.

"I recently used SCM for some repairs around the house, and I couldn't be happier with the results. The team were professional, punctual, and finished the job in record time. They even took the time to explain the process and cleaned up the entire work area before leaving. Their pricing was fair and transparent. I highly recommend them for any maintenance needs!

MMelissa Haddock

He did an amazing job on our lawn!

Excellent work carried out by SC MAINTENANCE in my garden this week !
And in particular, first class , friendly service by Jonathan, for preparing and installing my new garden gate, and installing concrete spur/ post to my fence to straighten it out.
I do, on this particular occasion knock off one star, purely as nobody turned up to start work on the original date planned , due to staff issues.
This wouldn't normally have been a problem, but would have liked to have been notified that morning , rather than be sat around waiting to find nobody would show up.
Apart from that one gripe, can I recommend Williams team???
ABSOLUTELY! 👍
The work was complete today, and communication was there when needed.

CCarl Green

Very happy with the work William carried out on the replacement of my garden gate, it looks great thank you.

HHeather Stoyles

The team came to replace a fence for my mother, to remove the old one and take it away. I couldn’t be there that day and mum is 87 so I was keen to be contacted if need be. I need not have worried mum reported a respectful team of men who did an excellent job from start to finish. I was asked by phone at points of the work if I wanted this done or the fence in a particular place. Very professional job and ‘lovely people ‘ mum said. She is delighted with the job and the way in which it was done. Thank you so much you come highly recommended.

LLaura Federanko

William and his guys have done an amazing job & I am very pleased with the finished result. Have already asked for further quotes for other jobs . Definitely recommend

JJanet Arrowmsmith

Would thoroughly recommend Will and team.
Put a new fence up in my back garden .
Very happy. Thank you

MMandy Clifford

This is the second time that I have used Will, this time for the outside of my pond and to relay the slabs. They had just started when they came upon a problem meaning they couldn't do what was originally planned. However, Will came up with a solution, got more materials and by the end of the day, I had a great surround on my pond & slabs that didn't move.
I am so pleased with it, and if anything it looks better than what was originally there.
If you want reliable, polite and reasonable prices then I would highly recommend Will.

Why concrete spur repair matters in Poole

Why posts fail in Poole

A lot of Poole sits on sandy heathland ground, so post holes can cave in as they're dug and footings need to be well compacted. Gardens near the harbour and at Sandbanks also take salty sea wind, which is hard on panels and fixings.

A tidy fix with the panels left in

Because a spur goes in beside the old post, the panels stay where they are and there's far less upheaval. Estate houses usually have a side gate, while some larger plots have long drives and some older terraces only have access through the house, so we check from your photos before we quote.

Suits most Poole fences

Spurs suit the common 75mm and 100mm square timber posts found on most garden fences. Poole has older terraces around the Old Town and the quay, Victorian and Edwardian houses through Parkstone and Branksome, big detached homes on large plots at Canford Cliffs, Lilliput and Sandbanks, and estates from the 1960s onwards at Canford Heath, Oakdale, Creekmoor and Hamworthy.

Our concrete spur repair process

  1. 1

    Photos & measurements

Send a photo of the post and the fence either side. We'll tell you if a spur is the right fix.

  2. 2

    Prop & dig

We prop the fence, dig a hole tight against the post and check for pipes and cables.

  3. 3

    Set the spur

The spur is set upright in concrete and the timber post is pulled back to vertical.

  4. 4

    Bolt & tidy

The post is bolted to the spur through pre-drilled holes and we clear up and take away any waste.

Is concrete spur repair right for your fence?

It usually suits when:

  • The timber post has rotted or snapped at or just below ground level
  • The post is still solid higher up, where it holds the panels
  • The panels and rails are still in reasonable condition
  • The old footing is hard to dig out, for example next to a wall, shed or patio

When something else is better:

A spur isn't the right fix if the post is rotten all the way up, the panels are falling apart, or several posts in a row have gone. Then replacing posts or the fence usually makes more sense, and we'll tell you so.

Typical concrete spur repair jobs in Poole

A timber post rotted at ground level on a Canford Heath or Oakdale estate garden, where the panels are still sound and a concrete spur gets it upright again.

Every fence is different, so the quickest way to a price is a few photos and a rough measurement. We'll tell you honestly whether concrete spur repair is the right fix or whether something else makes more sense.

Frequently asked questions: Concrete spur repair Poole

Do you cover all of Poole?

Yes. We cover BH12 to BH17, including Parkstone, Branksome, Lilliput, Canford Heath, Hamworthy, Creekmoor and Upton.

Is a spur as good as a new post?

For a post that's only rotten at the base, a spur gives a strong, lasting fix. If the whole post is soft, a new post is better.

Can you spur a gate post?

Sometimes. Gate posts take much more strain, so a full replacement is often the better choice. Send a photo and we'll advise.

We're close to the harbour. Does the sea air affect fencing?

Salt air and strong wind wear panels and fixings faster, so it's worth using concrete posts, sturdy panels and galvanised fixings. We'll suggest what suits your spot.
