Excellent work carried out by SC MAINTENANCE in my garden this week !
And in particular, first class , friendly service by Jonathan, for preparing and installing my new garden gate, and installing concrete spur/ post to my fence to straighten it out.
I do, on this particular occasion knock off one star, purely as nobody turned up to start work on the original date planned , due to staff issues.
This wouldn't normally have been a problem, but would have liked to have been notified that morning , rather than be sat around waiting to find nobody would show up.
Apart from that one gripe, can I recommend Williams team???

The team came to replace a fence for my mother, to remove the old one and take it away. I couldn’t be there that day and mum is 87 so I was keen to be contacted if need be. I need not have worried mum reported a respectful team of men who did an excellent job from start to finish. This is the second time that I have used Will, this time for the outside of my pond and to relay the slabs. They had just started when they came upon a problem meaning they couldn't do what was originally planned. However, Will came up with a solution, got more materials and by the end of the day, I had a great surround on my pond & slabs that didn't move.
I am so pleased with it, and if anything it looks better than what was originally there.

Blocked gutters
Leaves, moss from the roof, silt and even small plants build up over time, especially near trees. Once the gutter is partly full, heavy rain has nowhere to go but over the front edge. Gutter clearing removes the build-up.
Blocked downpipes
If the gutter itself looks clear but still overflows near the downpipe, the blockage is probably in the pipe, often at a bend or at the bottom where it meets the drain.
Sagging or misaligned gutters
Gutters need a slight fall towards the outlet. If a bracket has failed or a run has dropped, water pools in the low spot and spills out.
Leaking joints
Drips from the joints between gutter sections are usually worn seals. They're small leaks, but they can keep one patch of wall wet for months.
Why it matters inside
A wall that is regularly soaked from the outside can show damp patches and mould inside, particularly in older homes with solid walls. If you're dealing with mould on an outside wall, it's worth checking the gutter above it before redecorating.
Keeping gutters clear
- Check them once a year, usually after autumn leaf fall.
- Look up during heavy rain: overflowing water is easy to spot.
- Watch for plants growing along the gutter line.
- Don't forget conservatory and extension roofs, which often collect leaves.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to clear my own gutters?
Working at height carries real risk. If you do it yourself, use a sound ladder on firm ground with someone footing it, and never lean out to reach. Many people prefer to have it done.
Can overflowing gutters cause mould inside?
They can contribute to damp on the inside of the wall they overflow onto, which can then lead to mould.
Do gutter guards stop blockages?
They can reduce the amount of leaves getting in, but gutters with guards still need checking from time to time.
